Like a lot of fellas, my husband LOVES camo. Our home would be painted camoflauge if I would let him paint it like that. This week my hubby was searching the web and came across these towels. Our bathroom is in the lodge theme and they would fit just right.
Then I looked at the price and said "No way, I can make them cheaper than that." The hand towel was $11.99 and the bath towel was $24.99. And this is my version....
I thought that I would share how I made these.
You need towels and camoflouge or any other material that you choose. My bath towels were 30 inches wide, so I only need a total of 1/4 yard for all four towels.
I just cut the camoflouge in strips of 3 1/2" by with of fabric. You need to cut two of these. I then serged the edges of the material. If you do not have a serger, you can use a zig zag stitch.
I pressed the sides of the camoflauge in 1/4" on both sides.
I pinned the strip of material to the towel at desired area. (On mine the bath towels was 3 3/4" from bottom of towel to bottom of camo. Hand towel was 2") Measure all the way across and make sure that the camo is exact. You don't want a crooked line.
Run a seam along the edge of the camo. I folded in the ends, so the serged edge could not be seen.
And there you have it, a great towel for any CAMO guy or gal!
I like them so much better than the plain brown towels we had in there before. Who knew that Camoflauge was contagious?

The towels look great! Sew smart! I'm like you, if I can do it for less I surely will!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! My husband loves them and they were sooo much cheaper.
DeleteI just showed these to my husband and he loves them!! I think I will make him a few (even though they won't match our bathroom at all right now, lol!).
ReplyDeleteSara,
DeleteI hope you post them! ( It should be interesting matching Camo with however your bathroom is decorated now.). If you make them, you know they will be hung up by your hubby as soon as they are finished!
Amy :)
Found you from the Pinkapotamus link up...
ReplyDeleteMy husband would also have my whole house in camo if I let him (when we got married, his vest and tie were camo). I think i'm going to make these as a surprise for him, thanks for the awesome idea!!

Holly,
DeleteIf Camo would have been popular when we got married my hubby would have been wearing the same thing! LOL! Instead he finds ways to wear it everyday.

Amy,your embellishment is so cool! Way to go, changing the towels to please your husband. I love how he was searching the web and found camo towels. How many men do that!? He was just looking out for you. Probably knew you needed to craft! I love how easily you did that and saved a bundle over the pricey store version. You are so talented!

Thank you for your lovely compliment! I think my hubby trolls the interenet trying to find different product with camo on it. He is one of my biggest fans and finds me more crafts to work on.
