Christmas in July and EQ7 Row Along

Christmas is my most favorite season of the year.
We have so much to celebrate and be thankful for.
Did you know there are only 149 days until Christmas?

This year, I finished my very first Christmas quilt.

I used a variety of different quilting.
(A new step for me)
I have never mixed hand and machine quilting.
I hand quilted around the snowflakes using Aurifil 12 wt.
and them machine quilted with 50 wt.

I have been following Lori from the Inbox Jaunt for awhile now
and finally got daring enough to try out
a few of her free motion quilting techniques.
Her tutorials are amazing.

If you would like to check out the whole quilt
you can find it on Therm-O-Web today.
Plus they are giving away a prize package to one lucky person.
I am also working on a pattern for this,
so if you would be interested in testing it,
please comment or send me an e-mail.

On top of finishing the Let It Snow quilt,
I have been busy working on
an EQ7 Row Along sample quilt.

Material spread far and wide in my sewing room,
but you know the great thing about it.

I have not had to buy one piece of material for it.
What I have worked on so far,
has only required scraps and my stash.
Yeah!!
EQ Seasons Row Along
There are 20 talented EQ7 designers

More Tea and Christmas In July

How about a little more tea?

My oldest was ready to accomplish
Block #2.
She said that this one was
much easier than the first.

You can see both of my kiddos
blocks Here.
(Although,  my other child now
says, " I really like smaller projects.
This one has a lot of sewing."  We'll see
if it ends up a quilt or a pillow.)

I really love the colors that she
has chosen for her quilt.
So cute and young.

Here is Block #1 and #2.

I decided to join in the
Tea Pot fun and created
this one.

I have been in love with Moda's Ambleside
fabric line for awhile now.
I was just searching for the perfect project.
I need to do a little catch-up and
finish my first block.

I have also been working on
a Christmas in July project,
but can only show you a little peek.

I will be showing it off at Therm-O-Web
on July 30.  There is a whole
week of adorable Christmas in July
 projects lined up.

My Quilting Kiddos

Before the end of the school year,
my kids voiced that they wanted to learn
to quilt.  How could I say no?

I would be teaching them a skill
that they could use for
the rest of their lives.
(Even if it is to hem a pair of pants.)

We first had to pick the pattern,
and this little cutie fit the part.

http://www.quiltcompany.com/brnegateapa.html

It is called Garden Tea Party
by The Quilt Company.
You can find the pattern HERE.

It is a great pattern with a mix
of piecing, applique, and a little embroidery.
Of course one of my children, wants to add all kinds
of extras to the pattern to give it flair.
To their dismay, I said,
"You can try that on the next quilt."
I just want them to get down all the
basics before adding the "FLAIR".

So here are the results of their very
first finished quilt blocks.

This one is a mix of Moda's Lucy's Crab Shack
and Noteworthy.
Such a cute fun and flirty mix of fabrics.

The second is all American.
It is an older Moda line, that
I had uncovered in my stash.
I believe it is American Banner Rose.

We used Heat n' Bond Lite, so for
the applique they will be able to
 sew it with ease.

I wanted them to pick fabrics that
they would love 10 years from now.

I am assisting them
in their color choices and cutting.
The rest has been my kiddos.

I just might have a quilter or two
in the family.  (Wouldn't that be fun?)

Now, I need to find the time to make
myself one of these cuties.
