Small, Smaller, Smallest Blog Hop

If this hop would have been
Big, Bigger, Biggest,
I know that I would have
never been able to pull of any project.
(I kind of lost my momentum for a bit
or maybe this project started it up again)

But quite thankfully,
it is the Small, Smaller,
Smallest Bog Hop
Hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt.

I didn't have a hard time
thinking of what to make for this one.

I pulled out a sewing book
of mine called
Sewing Pretty Little Things
by Cherie Lee and a few of my favorite things.

Fun Fabrics, which just happen to
have Darth Sugar Skulls on it,
and some beautiful Aurifil threads in 40wt.
and 12 wt. of my favorite color as well.
Aurifil #5006, which I do
believe is the color of my living room.

Inside is a cute little clutch purse.
I slightly tweaked it a bit
to work with what I needed and got
this.

It is a zippered clutch that folds in half.
I enlarge the pattern a bit for it to
fit the zipper that I had on hand.

I used cork for the top decorative part,
and added straight stitching with Aurifil 12 wt.
for added detail.
I just adjusted my machine
for a longer stitch.
It works out beautifully each time.

I like to pick up different little elements
at the craft store when I go
and I saw a set of  metal inspirational saying
in the scrapbooking department.

I totally cheated and sewed it on
my machine with a wide zig-zag stitch.

It fits just the right amount of make-up
and brushes in it.

Thanks for stopping by

Pattern vs. Product

So, I have a bit of a dilemma.
I have been working on a few bags.
They are completely my pattern
from the top to the bottom.
Over the course of the
last month, I have made about
30 of them. Yes, 30. Each one of the close
relatives received one.
I have tweaked the pattern, making it a
bit better until  it is just right.

I came up with this

"Sew Cute"

"Chic Bumblebee"

"Vintage garden"

It has no exposed seams and
is perfect for holding just about anything.

So here is my dilemma,
What are you all more interested in?

A finished product or a pattern?
I had an idea of having
a bag hop, would that interest
anyone?
Each of these is for sale,
The cost is $45, plus shipping.
Just email me if you are interested.

Think Ruffles!!! Are you ready to RRRUUUUFFFFLLLLEE????

asked me to be the head cheerleader for
this hop of course I said, yes.
(she, of course, is the Queen of Ruffles)
I had really not added a ruffle to
much of anything, so I was a bit  nervous.
But it wasn't as hard
as I had expected it to be.

So, what did I decide to make?
I gave you a bit of a teaser
last week with some pretty
little red ruffles

Cutie little napkins!
(Or at least I think so)

I had some pre-made Aunt Martha's napkins
hanging around the house,
so why not add a little ruffle on it.
I drew up a tea or coffee cup
 (whichever your preference)
and appliqued it to the front,
added some Hand-stitching around the
cups using Aurifil 12 wt. thread.
And ended up having some pretty cute
little table accessories.
I LOVE THEM.

I usually like to make more than one project,
and if you all know me
I am a weeee bit of a procrastinator,
I did manage to finish just one more.
(Although, I know  that it won't
be my last.)

A Ruffled and Ready Bike bag
of my own design.

What girlie wouldn't love this hanging on the
front of their bike?
I think that I might have to
work on one for myself.
(After I finish a few for the
other girlies on my list)

Ruffled and Ready
to hit the roads.

So are you ready to see the other great
rufflers?   Be a great
CHEERLEADER
and go check them out!!
(Make sure to say Hello)
Here is the schedule for today.

Sew Incredibly Crazy  - You are Here !!

P.S. It is my second blog anniversary, so stay turned for some great giveaways

Pineapple Purse and a Cowl

So, I found a new love this weekend.  I had purchase several purse handles at the fabric store at a huge discount.  (lets say several months ago)  I kept meaning to make a couple purses, but lacked the vision.   Then, it hit me.  To combine two of my favorite things together.  Yarn and sewing made what I think a quite nice combination.

And of course when I love something, I have to take a lot of pictures.......

Messenger Bag 2.0

Because of my lack for creative names for the design of this bag, it has received the above title.  Maybe one of you can help me with a name for it.  I had made one a few months back that is basically made the same, only I keep trying to perfect the construction to make it as simple as possible.  I can't seem to just make anything twice that is exact.  I guess that makes each unique to itself.

I was up late last night putting the finishing touches on it.  When my eyes started getting blurry, I decided to call it quits and I just had to finish up the strap.

Kiddo Messenger Bag

Every time a birthday rolls around, I try really hard to make something handmade for their "Big" day.  There is so much stuff out there that kids want.  I usually get them a book and a handmade goodie of some sort.   I had made my other niece an owl bag and I had every intention of making a few more and getting them completed way before birthday time. (Always wishful thinking) I cut this one out the same time I had cut out the other.  It set in a box for a couple months, but I finished it all up this weekend.

I used owl canvas for the exterior.  I quilted it in wavy lines and it  has Velcro closure to keep all her essentials in. (Books, dolls, cars, maybe some lip gloss she sniped from mommy, etc.)

W.I.P. Wednesday #5

This week has more productive in the garden than at the sewing table.  (No surprise there.)  I bought this great new fabric that has big plans.

I am going to make a swim bag for my sis, parents and myself, if I get my act together.  Always so torn between two hobbies (or three or four)  that I love.  I am going to make it close to the Sail Away Tote, I designed a couple weeks back.

I have been working on my first Dresden.  I think that so far, I like it the best.  I haven't tried a whole lot of different blocks, but I really like these a lot.  I have heard that they are addicting.  (I can see why.)

I have also come to the realization that I am pretty sure I have so sort of disorder.  I found a crocheted pillow on Pinterest this weekend and fell in love.  I went crazy crocheting it for two nights.  A disorder, I tell you.  Here is just a little peak of what it looks like.  I love it, and will probably make 4 or 5 more at least.  I will show you the rest tomorrow.  Do you feel the suspense building?  Last, if you are a new visitor, I am having a giveaway and you can go here if you are interested.  It it ends on Friday.

I have three sewing projects in the process and
two crochet project half completed

 See you soon.

Sail Away Tote

So, this weekend I finished my first commissioned project.  I completely designed this tote to my customers specifications.   I ended up calling it Sail Away.  It looks so inviting to grab your suit and set out on a yacht.  (If Only)  And I finished it with plenty of time to get it off by Wednesday.  I always seem to work better with a deadline.

She wanted ample room for three beach towels and other essentials to take to the pool.  She also wanted a tote that was washable and would not look to dirty after a use or two.  I just love the blues.

My favorite thing to do is to make the bags I create completely reversible and this is no different.  The upper pic is of the inside pockets.

This is the other side of the interior of the tote.  It has three more Velcro pockets, a key clip and a large zippered pocket.  This was the first time I tried an inside zipper.  I used the directions at Creative Little Daisy.  It was not as near difficult as expected to add an interior pocket.  Her directions and pictures were so precise that it was easy-peasy.  I hope that she loves her new pool tote.  I  hated seeing it leave.  I will have to work on one for myself.  I linked up to....

W.I.P Wednesday

So last week, I got a huge load of projects completed.  This week not so much.  The table runner is setting in a clear tote waiting patiently to be put together.  Like I said, my mom will end up getting it on Father's day.  But, I am quite excited to get my first little commissioned project.  Yes, it is just a relative, but you have to start somewhere.  I am working on a canvas bag for taking to the pool.  It has to hold three beach towels and have ample pockets.  I picked up this washable and dryer safe material up at my local JoAnn's.

I choose two gender neutral fabrics so guy or gal could pick it up.  And so a certain husband would be okay carrying it around the pool.  I can't wait to get started on designing it.

I also started this cute little flower scrubby that girl munchkin wanted.  It needs a leaf crocheted on it, but they were completely out of the green Lily Scrubby thread.  I will show you the almost finished product later in the week.
