April's Sun, Sand, And Sea Block of the Month

I know that I have enjoyed
revealing the next Block for the

This month's blocks are designed by
Carla of Creatin' in the Sticks.
You can stop in
and pick up this adorable flock
over at her blog for free
until the end of the month,
right HERE.

There is a whole lot of fun in the sun
happening in this block.

Her bird Splash from the
In Our Garden Block of the Month
decided to
trade in his bird bath for
a little fun in the sun
on a beach ball.

Isn't her design just the cutest?

For my quilt I am
using a variety
of different Timeless Treasure batik fabrics.

They have been so very fun to
play with for this hop.

For the applique,
I always use Heat n Bond Lite.
They have made
these super handy sheets that you
can stick in your printer and print out
the pattern pieces.

They worked like a dream
with these blocks.
You can find them here.

If you have missed the other
blocks you can find March's

My February Aurifil DOM Reboot Block

I like to have a bunch of projects
brewing,
mostly because I love to stay busy.
I can't sit still for too long before
If I sit still for too long,
I believe that I am being unproductive.
A crazy thought, not to be able to just be,
but I find I am most relaxed when
I have a project or two, (maybe ten)
in the works.

So while patiently waiting
for the next block
of the

I decided to join in the Aurifil DOM Reboot.
I had actually printed
off most of the patterns clear back from 2012,
the first time that they had held this Stitch Along.
I had very little quilting experience then,
and didn't figure to be able to finish
what I had begun.
So, to my surprise they
brought it back.

I finished the second block a few days ago.

I just love the way that this cutie turned out.
I picked my colors to embroider by matching
them to the fabrics that I was planning to use.

The fabrics are an exclusive from Craftsy.
This is my first time to try their Boundless fabrics.

My assessment of the fabrics are that they are
quilt shop quality.
The line is called Flower Shoppe
I love the fabrics from the pure white with floral neutral
to the navy sprinkle.
(These assessments were my own,
I was not paid for them)
Of course, the piecing of my block was
done with Aurifil 50wt. white.

I can't for the next block.
So I can start putting these
embroidered cuties together.

Not All That Wander Are Lost Mini Quilt

Hi, Y'all!!
So here is my Friday Finish.

I received the most beautiful bundle
of fabrics from Camelot Cottons.
It was Kaleidoscope.
A beautiful mix of soft
blues, aqua, purple, creams,
and some navy blue, which
made a beautiful contrast.
It really has a modern southwest feel
to the fabric.

While looking at the fabric,
I decided to try my hand at flying geese.
Here I have been quilting for
close to 5 years, and have not
made one without paper piecing it.

Sometimes, when making something
I have no plan.
I just let the fabric lead me.

This was the case with
project.  I really thought
that I would have to go back
to the drawing board,
but after I finished it,
I knew that it had to
be one of my favorites.

The quote, "Not all those who wander are lost",
is a line written in a poem by J. R. R. Tolkien.
It has to be one of my favorite quotes.

I quilted it using Aurifil 50 wt. thread
in 2311.  I used straight stitching,
and then added a few wandering lines
through them for added interest.

It is now hanging in my home.

If you would like to read
more about this quilt
and check out the pattern,

You can find it on Thermoweb
Stop in there and say Hello.
