Textured BoHo Cowl

I found the prettiest pattern
for a crocheted cowl

This is the eighth one that I have
made over the last month.
They made such great Christmas
gifts.

This one has to be my favorite.
I chose to make this one from Alpaca yarn.
I picked it up on Craftsy at their
year end clearance.
It was a great deal and I
couldn't pass it up.
The wood buttons I found over at
my local craft store.

The color of the yarn is so rich and beautiful.
I love all the little fibers that seem to
find their way out of the stitches.
It gives it such a lovely texture.

I picked up 4 skeins, but only needed
2, so I guess I can make another
to give as a gift.

The pattern for this cowl is free over at
She has some beautiful patterns on
her blog.

A Bouquet of Daisies FInish

Last week, we had a bit of a blizzard pass through.
The kind of blizzard that causes
the power to be out.
10 plus hours to be out.
While I would have loved to hop
on my sewing machine and add
a couple more rows to the current quilt project,
Mother Nature was not going to let me.
I guess she knew I need to finish up
my crochet WIP.

So, I picked up my Bouquet of Daisies afghan,
and went to town on it.

I was able to finish it up
and right before the electric
came back on.

Of course, I had to wait a day to take these pictures.
It doesn't look like much here, but
the drifts were quite large.

The only thing that I will miss about the snow is..
that is does make a beautiful backdrop.

The pattern for this afghan can be
found in the book Hooked on Crochet Afghans.

Blizzard Warning

Do you ever make craft promises to yourself?
No, nothing like I won't buy yarn or fabric for a
month and then have a relapse.
I mean from an artistic point.
Several years back, after my grandmother passed
away, she left many crocheted granny squares in a bag.
After many hours of putting them together,
I made a promise to myself that well....
I would never make anything with any granny squares.
I didn't like the whole idea of having
to crochet or sew them together.
It is a good thing that we are all able to grow and
change our minds.
The change of mind came from a pattern.

It is called Blizzard Warning.
It is created by Every Trick on the Hook.
You can find the pattern for free
right now on Ravelry.
You can either make a hexagon
or as a granny square.
  I chose the later.
Although, a hexagon could be in the near future.

I made a single crocheted seam in the center
connecting the squares.

I have big plans for
this lovely, so
you'll have to check in later.
I could be snowed in.

Sophie's Universe Finished

Guess what I finished up last week?

It is a little less that six feet square.
I absolutely love this afghan and
my garden in is full bloom, so it makes
the perfect picture backdrop.

I mostly used my scraps and
stash to work it up.
I only spent $20 on this beauty.  Very gratifying!
I have a second one already
planned.

You can find the pattern for this Sophie's Universe
It is free pattern and I really can't say enough
for the pattern and the pictures that accompany it.
It is very crochet friendly.

Now off to visit a few flowers in my garden.

I adore lots, and lots of color.
The more the merrier.
I have always been drawn to the old
cottage gardens that are full
of all types and colors of flowers.
Maybe, I can get out tomorrow to catch a few
more photos of the flowers that
are loving all this rain
we have had.

Getting Closer

Not a whole lot of
sewing has been going on
at my home.

I have been crocheting the evenings away
on my Sophie.

I just finished Part 11.
I have 6 more parts to complete
on her.

We had about 10 inches of snow
on Mother's Day,
(Although you would never know it now)
so the grass has really greened up
around the house.

My Sophie looks quite a bit different
now than in this picture,
so does the grass.

I'll probably show her off next
after she is all finished up.
You can find the pattern for this

I have to get cutting on these
beautiful fabrics

Just LOVE Fresh Cut.
I have big plans for these pretty little posies.

Sophie's Universe - CAL

I have been back to
my crochet hook.
I joined a crochet group on
Facebook and I fell in love
with the most fun little crochet-a-long
(Like I need another project)

I picked colors from my stash.
Although, there is not
going to be enough to
finish this off.

I am on week 3 of the CAL,
and it is on week 13,
so I have to
play a little catch-up.

I thought I would add a bit
of yellow to the mix of
all the of blues.

Now back to my hook.

And don't forget to enter the GIVEAWAY
that I have going on.

You can find the Color Selection and progress here.

Vintage Stitching and a GIVEAWAY!!

I have been traveling
with needle in hand over
the last couple weeks.
I managed to finish a couple little projects.

Maybe you or your mother
carried one...

I always wanted a pretty hankie, so
lady-like and  dainty.
A lovely to pull out of your purse
or set upon your dresser.

Adding a sweet little bit of
personalizing on the corner.

The details of these are
I added the colored crocheted edge, and
then I tested out my new
Fantasia Aurifloss set.
Which I LOVE!!
They travel a lot better than
that rolled on the little plastic spools.
And who can resist those sweet little
wooden spools.

I used an iron on transfer from
Colonial Patterns for both the
 hankies.

These two will probably find their
way into to a Easter basket or two.

and I will have to make a couple for myself.
