Classic and Vintage Rocket Star

Do you ever see a pattern and say, 

"Wow, that is gorgeous!", 

but then you are a little intimidated 

to work on it? 

Fat Quarter Shop once again 

has done it again with a beautiful 

Classic and Vintage style quilt.

I was a little intimidated to make 

it, but it was so much easier than 

I had even imagined. 

Here is the very first block I created from 

the pattern.  

Let me say, I just loved it.

This particular quilt was made with a fat quarter

bundle I had sitting around just waiting to 

transform into a quilt.

One block turned into many, 

Until, it was all finished with pretty pink sashing.

It has big plans after it gets all quilted up, 

but I can't tell you what.

It would give away the surprise.

It was probably one of the more fun quilts

that I have had the pleasure of creating.

Valentine's Sew Along Block with Thermoweb - Free Pattern

I am so thrilled about 

the adorable Valentine Sew Along this 

week over at ThermOWeb. 

Four designer, myself included, have created applique blocks.

 The first three have already been revealed, 

so it is my day to show off what I created.

I call it "My Cup Overflows".

It is 10 1/2" square unfinished.

I always use my

EZ Print HeatnBond Lite Sheets.

They have spoiled me!!

 four projects and patterns using the blocks.

Jolly Bar Meringue Quilt with the Fat Quarter Shop

 It has been a super busy fall

and unfortunately that hasn't involved 

a whole lot of quilting, 

but I did manage to join the 

Fat Quarter Shop 

in creating another adorable top.

The pattern is Jolly Bar Meringue Quilt,

This quilt is called the Jolly Bar Meringue.

It uses Jolly Bars
with are precuts.

It was a fat and fun quilt to put together.

I used the Howdy Jolly Bar 

by Stacy Iest Hsu for Moda Fabrics.

Here is mine all pieced together.

I absolutely love the fun mix of fabrics in 

line.  It would make 

a perfect quilt for a 

little tike

and the pattern works well for any age!!

Fat Quarter Shop Snowballs Quilt

The Fat Quarter Shop

has done it again with a beautiful 

pattern that is fun and beautiful.

It is the Snowballs Quilt

For this pattern, I 

used this beautiful selection of fat quarters

called Meadow Moda Mix.

It is a beautiful mix of aquas and soft buttery yellows.

I usually don't sew with much 

yellow, so this was a treat.

It was just beautiful!!

I used the yellows as my lights colors and

the aquas as my darks.  

Don't you just love those pineapples?

 And dainty roses?

After finishing sewing up all

the blocks, 

you get this beauty.

I absolutely love it.  

The colors and the design 

go so well together.

This beauty will be used in 

our living room to 

cover up during the

cold winter nights that 

seem so far away at 

the moment.

Patchwork Heart Placemats

After creating the 

patchwork mug rug, 

I just could not resist

making placemats to match.

I am in love with making patchwork

applique.

Mini Charm Chocolate Big Sky Quilt

I have really been 

enjoying piecing as of late.

Just the pure, fun, and

simplicity of sewing a straight line. 

It really has had a hold on

me for the last couple months.

When Fat Quarter Shop announced

that they would be holding a Quilt-A-Long

for a new pattern using mini charms, 

I was all in. A sweet little quilt
made from Moda Mini-Charms.

And with the release
of this new fabric,
I was in.

I absolutely love this fabric line.
It is Big Sky designed by Annie Brady
for Moda.
The colors and designs are
just my cup of tea.

The background fabric is
Moda Grunge Basics White.

There are several option sizes
to this quilt.  I choose
to do the lap size quilt
and I just love it.

Being that I felt that the fabric and quilt were
directional.  I really didn't want
bears or moose on
their heads, so when constructing
the quilt, I paid close attention to
the direction of each fabric.

It was a bit more time consuming that way,
but I really like that every fabric is
the same direction.

It is quilted with Aurifil
50 wt. #2830.
A lovely mint green,
you can find the color here.

I tried something a little different
with this quilt as well.
I cut striped fabric on the bias
to create a really fun
diagonal strip for the binding.

It has to be one of my favorite

backs and binding that I have

added to a quilt.

Just makes it all pop.

Problem is that every time I
make something, it doesn't stay in my hands
very long.
My son saw the fabrics and really
loved that it didn't look girlie.

So, I think this one will be wrapped 

under the tree with his name on it.
