  1. This is beautiful fabric! I've only been quilting a couple of years now and self-taught. I've always wanted to learn but was terrified and didn't know where to start. Quilting Bloggers are great people to learn from! Thank you for the giveaway!

  2. I'm a new follower and I absolutely love your fabrics. I learned from a lady that had just opened her quilt shop and she was advertising to have students. I ended up with semi-private lessons for free and learns so much from her. She loved my quilting stitches so much she gave me one of her quilts to hand quilt and then she entered it in the local fair. She has since passed but I love her for all the knowledge she passed on to me and I'm now passing on to my daughter.

  3. I always knew that I would be a quilter at some point in my life, as I've always sewed and loved fabric. 30 years ago, I remember telling a dear friend, who is and was a quilter, that someday I would quilt, and sure enough, when my work load lightened up and my children were independent, the time was right. I have taken a couple classes to learn the basics, but honestly, I have learned as much or more just from reading quilt blogs. I'm so happy to be a quilter, and even happier that I am a quilter at this time, when we have blogs, pinterest, and internet (for shopping)!

  4. My grandmother always quilted when I was little but she died when I was about 12 so I didn't get to learn from her. I registered for a class being taught by the Homemakers local office and joined in with it. I been quilting ever since!

Growing up she always made my sister and I our Sunday dresses out of beautiful calicos ( usually purple or lavenders because those were her favorite colors)and she made my barbie clothes and doll quilts. When I grew up I no longer lived close to her but her inspiration stuck and I made my first quilt at 18 yrs old. However I just recently in the last year started sewing again. WOW at all the new modern fabric - I LOVE it! (But I will always have a soft spot for lavender calicos)Thanks for the chance at the giveaway - could def use some reds for my stash!!

  58. Not sure how I learned - Mom and Grandmother both sewed all my clothes and theirs - started very young 6 or so getting to use the scraps to make doll clothes - then progress as I got older to people clothes - then when the children came along made most all of their clothes - then the quilting bug hit and that is what I enjoy doing the most now.

  59. My mom taught me to sew when I was 9 or 10 yo. About 1980 my mom and I found an elderly lady that was teaching quilting for free. We grew so large that we became the Crazy Quilters group and meet once a month. We did this until I had to go to work and quilting stopped. Now I am retired and back to quilting and loving it all over again. Going to join a quilt guild next month that a friend introduced me to. New follower and love the red and white fabrics.

  76. My mom and grandmother are not very crafty, but I understand my great grandmother was a quilter. She didn't make beautiful quilts - she made strip quilts...and they were HEAVY. My family has several and over the years I came to appreciate her handiwork. That's what attracted me to quilting...family history, but I had to learn to quilt from someone outside the family.

  90. In 1976 we celebrated America's birthday BIG TIME, and there were many craft shows and exhibits that featured early American crafts, including quilting and patchwork. 98. I learned to sew by hand when I was about 5, and was sewing on a machine by the time I was 7 or 8. My mom made several Dresden plate quilts, one each for my sister and me, and at least one more that she never got quilted. But she didn't teach me to quilt. It didn't seem too hard to stitch together 9-patch blocks, so I made a lap quilt for my grandfather about 40 years ago. Then I made a queen-size quilt for our bed. And then I didn't quilt again until a few years ago. When I say quilt, I mean stitch blocks together. The actual quilting together 3 layers is really new to me and I've learned by reading books and looking at other quilts. I love the red and white Moda fabrics you've chosen to give away. Thank you for offering them.

  143. I first taught myself to quilt from magazines thinking it would be an inexpensive gift to make for showers and such. NOT! But then, when I really needed time for me, I signed up for an adult ed quilting class...using the time saving features of rotary cutters and rulers...I was hooked after that! Found out one of my grandmothers was a quilter but she had died when I was a child and I didn't know about quilting then. Wish she was around now!

  144. I too am a new quilter and there have been to great source for me. The internet is endless fountain of info. on things like searches, blogs, hops and Quilterscache.com.

But when thing I love to going to the library. I can find so many books not only from my library...but any library that has Inter Library Loan or known as ILL. I can check the books out for between 3 weeks to a month plus or more. And copies are a great way to add patterns for something like 10 cents a page. My library is a little village library and they have even books that I recommend to our shelves. They love it.

Like right Now I'm looking at a couple doll quilt books (good way to learn how to make blocks and are Great for seeing a finished project!!), a vintage apron book, an one on RedWork. I love added hand stitching to my things. Your fabrics are just calling to me for a RedWork SunBonnet Sue wallhanging.

Thank You for the chance to win such beautiful collection of fabrics.

    Sincerely,
    Tricia

  147. My SIL started my quilting - she taught me how and showed me, most importantly, how to shop for fabric ;)

  148. Honestly, I taught myself. I'd been reading quilting blogs and really wanted to learn so I just jumped in with both feet!

  149. My mother taught me to quilt. I began full time when moved to help/live with my parents. There is a long line of quilters on the maternal and paternal sides of my family. I quilt because it is fun and a shared hobby with my mother.

  152. I don't quilt, but I sew tote bags, pillows, and other items for my group, World of Charity Stitching. We donate them to a nursing home and a domestic violence shelter.
    Thanks,

  153. I started sewing (not quilting) a couple years ago and then started finding and reading crafty/sewing blogs and then I started seeing quilts I liked on the blogs and found some good easy beginner tutorials and thought that it looked like something I could do. Thanks!

  156. Love the red fabrics and the purse you made.
I had a friend who was pregnant and I want to make a quilt for the baby so I took a class. Everything was done by hand, you had to cut the pieces with scissors and hand sew and quilt it. We've sure come a long ways in quilting!! sandi1100@yahoo.com

I'm hooked, I love quilting, I long arm quilt as a business too, I've taught quilt classes now and been making and selling patterns and was published in McCalls too!

  162. I wanted a quilt for myself so my mother had purchased one for me from a catalog but it wasn't what I had in mind. A homemade quilt from someone in our family. No one quilts or knew how. So, I took a beginner's quilting class. I learned all about quilting and actually made one myself. The colors were not so good as I have learned so much quilting myself. Back then, who cared? Green, peach and blue. There should have been light green, beige, peach and dark green. Pattern was the rail fence. It was my first and I still have it. Thank you for joining the Blog Hop and giving all of your new friends and followers a chance to win those beautiful red renaissance. What a gorgeous quilt that would make. Maybe another rail fence?

  164. I started quilting because of my grandfather. His mom made utility quilts but he never ended up with one to his regret. I made him a double Irish chain .
