No, you are not seeing double! I took the plunge and paper pieced for the first time. A bit scary and intimidating, but I finished 2 out of 12 of the block needed to do the quilt I am working on. I really love how they turned out, but they are way more time consuming than I thought. Maybe, now I know a little more of what I am doing, the next 10 will go a little easier.
I have to admit I goofed and have four of the same paper pieced blocks. (I wished I had read the directions better!) Oh well, the 2 extra blocks will make great pillows. Don't you love the pink polka dots? It is my favorite fabric.
I also finished sewing the outside quilt blocks this weekend. I had a great sewing day! Oh, off to work on 10 more blocks! (I am having a fabric giveaway, if you are interested. It closes Sept 3.)

nice work Amy, I haven't tried paper piecing as it sounds fiddly, so well done!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blocks and yep, I always use leftovers for pillows! Thanks for sharing.

I love it and the polka dot is great fabric. I do a ton a paper piecing and it gets faster as you learn. I put my extra blocks in a box and when I collect enough of these orphans I make a sample quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe pink dots are perfect - they really stand out! Pillows are perfect for leftovers.
ReplyDeleteI like it...where did you get the paper piece pattern??? I'm always looking for new PP sources.
ReplyDeleteLove the gray and the fabrics you chose to go with it.
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics really pop against the grey background.
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics for the Sew Intertwined quilt are so cute! Really tempted to start that quilt along...along with my zillion other WIPs!
ReplyDeleteLooking great - I love paper piecing :)
ReplyDeleteI recently tried paper piecing, and I loved it, but I'm with you--I thought it would take a lot less time! I love your blocks, and I agree, that pink polka dot is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks, is there a pattern for this? deanie dot dreams at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhh I love your colours Amy!!! Do you have pics on Flickr...I don't recall seeing these. Thanks for visiting.I just need to get the borders on now....but I think I will do more to it later on...I want it bigger...we'll see...lol
ReplyDeleteWay to go on Paper piecing. It is so addicting. And having extra blocks is always a good thing :) And I totally agree, the purple polka dots - Love em!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about you Blog posting and photos being Hijacked, after all that work. Thank you for taking the time to re-post the Blog and photos. I love the Pink Poka Dot. I have only paper pieced once but think I will try it again. Thanks for the encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't that happy with the hijacking, either. It was a lot of work getting her to remove it. As for Paper piecing, it was a lot of fun and work all rolled into one. I love the results though, so I will be doing it again. You should definitely give it another try!
DeleteThose are really cool!! Congratulations on conquering paper piecing - a big whoop whoop for you!!
ReplyDeleteWill there be a tutorial for "Seeing Double", love it. Great work. deanie dot dreams at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteDeanie,
DeleteIt is at the Sew Intertwined QAL button at the left side of my blog. It will take you right there and the pattern is free! :)
