Camo Towels

Like a lot of fellas, my husband LOVES camo.  Our home would be painted camoflauge if I would let him paint it like that.  This week my hubby was searching the web and came across these towels.  Our bathroom is in the lodge theme and they would fit just right.
Then I looked at the price and said "No way, I can make them cheaper than that."  The hand towel was $11.99 and the bath towel was $24.99.  And this is my version....

His and Hers Owl Mug Wraps

Most of us have a mug or two that doesn't match or you just don't care for the design on the side.  I have several that are mismatched in the cupboard.  Well, look at this little solution.  His and Hers Mug wraps!  I got the pattern for these here.  They have several mug wrap patterns at there sight, all once again free.  Another great pattern for beginner crocheters!

Messenger Bag 2.0

Because of my lack for creative names for the design of this bag, it has received the above title.  Maybe one of you can help me with a name for it.  I had made one a few months back that is basically made the same, only I keep trying to perfect the construction to make it as simple as possible.  I can't seem to just make anything twice that is exact.  I guess that makes each unique to itself.

I was up late last night putting the finishing touches on it.  When my eyes started getting blurry, I decided to call it quits and I just had to finish up the strap.

Still Zig Zaggin

I started the quilt along with good intentions, hoping to finish before next week.  It is the biggest quilting project that I have taken on.  I have made table cloth sized projects, but never quilted them (just tied) I am hoping that I can get this all quilted with my little machine.  That is my favorite part.  I sewed on the borders Saturday night.  I went for the scrappy look and sewed on some leftover jellyroll strips around the edge.

Apples!!!! Get you Apples Here!!

When going to the craft store, we walk the isles.  The kiddos picking up random how to FREE instruction books on what Mom can make.  We come home with Pig slippers and afghans and a plethora of projects that I know I will never complete (or want to) in my lifetime.  But sometimes, they pick up a cute and fast little something.   The kiddos picked up a flier for little apple dishcloths and so I whipped up a couple.

Irish Crochet Scarf

I bought a crochet book a few weeks back because I loved this scarf that was on the front of the cover.  It was a beautiful shade of aqua and they had used Irish Crochet.  I could not find the exact yarn that they had used, but I tried to get close.  It was 15 flower motifs and you had to crochet them together as you go.  The pattern was horrible! (Or maybe it was me)  I had to improvise on three-quarters of the scarf.

Tricycle Herb Garden

Of course since the weather here was absolutely gorgeous this weekend, I was busy outside.  Like most families that have older children, they grow out of a few things.  One is their favorite wheeled transportation.  We have a tricycle that was destined to set in the shed for years or get donated to the nearest DAV, but I couldn't yet part with the little gem.  It was a Radio Flyer, only the paint was chipped and it need a few minor repairs.

Well, I told my hubby of my crazy idea and of course since it involved a spray paint can, he was all over it.  We picked up a light color spray on primer and two of my new favorite colors:  lime and turquoise.  He took it all apart, which did involve a whole lot of work.  Then he sanded up the rough spots, primed it, and painted it.  And this is what we came up with:

I had bought a couple metal planters last year and had no clue that this is what I would be using them for.  We used a drill and punched holes into the planters to allow the water to drain and I could use wire to tie them up to the main shaft of the tricycle.

Then later on in the week I won another prize from Hanni at Hannicraft for a little comment.  It was software from My Memories.  I have yet to try it out, but it looks like a lot of fun.  Hanni made some cute little buttons for her blog using it.

Red, White, and Blue Zig Zag Quilt

I know now that my blog title fits me more and more. (Which sometimes scares me) I decided to join a Quilt-A-Long at Mommy by day Crafter by night.  It is my first.  I am so excited to quilt with others and see how different each quilt will turn out.  Well, I sort of got ahead of the QAL and already sewed my triangles together.  I figured since it was all setting out I would just sew it all up.   (That and our cat would not leave them alone.)

Pecan Pie Muffins

I thought this morning I would try something different and make some homemade muffins from scratch.  Usually when I make muffins, I grab a box and add the ingredients, but this recipe offered 5 easy ingredients and very tasty results.  Who can beat that easy and delicious?  They are Pecan Pie Muffins and Oh they were YUMMY!!!  My mother got the recipe from an old family friend years ago, but I never had made them before.

The ingredients are:

Petal Neckroll Pillow

I decided that I liked my kiddos Flower Power pillow so much that I would make myself one that was a bit more subdue in color. (My hubby wouldn't care much for a rainbow)  I used Lily's Sugar 'n Cream 100% cotton yarn.  Of course in the process of finishing it, I ran out and had to do the great search for more.  It always seems to happen that way.  7 rows short and I have to make a 20 mile run for yarn and so it was not finished as quickly as I would have hoped.

W.I.P. Wednesday #7 - Windy Weather

Due to the huge amount of wind we have been getting lately, I have done okay working through my "To Do" list that needs to be complete.  I finished one of the red, white and blue Dresden pillows for my Dad for Father's day.

Kiddo Messenger Bag

Every time a birthday rolls around, I try really hard to make something handmade for their "Big" day.  There is so much stuff out there that kids want.  I usually get them a book and a handmade goodie of some sort.   I had made my other niece an owl bag and I had every intention of making a few more and getting them completed way before birthday time. (Always wishful thinking) I cut this one out the same time I had cut out the other.  It set in a box for a couple months, but I finished it all up this weekend.

I used owl canvas for the exterior.  I quilted it in wavy lines and it  has Velcro closure to keep all her essentials in. (Books, dolls, cars, maybe some lip gloss she sniped from mommy, etc.)

Red, White, and Dresden

Once again, still on this Dresden kick.  I continue to have this illness. (Still can't quit scheming) I made this one and its almost finished twin for my father for Father's Day coming up.  And what do Dads like to do (well at least mine) take a nap.  I am making him twin Dresden pillows for the couch so he can get comfy for his afternoon shut eye.

I used American Banner Rose material from Moda.

I decided to do a little something different than that of the 1/4" quilting.   I free motioned some stripes and stars with the machine.

And then finished it up with a few hand-quilted wonky stars.  I hope he likes them.

I also had to share some of my flowers with you.  This is a white Clematis vine that just started blooming in the yard.  I love it's showy white and purple blooms.

June Fresh Sewing Day and Small Bog Meet

Happy Fresh Sewing Day!!
Lynne of Lily's Quilts is such a gracious hostess and sets up a Small blog meet for all the blogs that are below 50 followers.

Lily's Quilts

She also hosts Fresh Sewing Day, where  you show-off your accomplishments of the month.
Lily's Quilts
I did a collage of both my quilting and crochet projects that I completed.

I am pretty sure they will dwindle down.  As soon as the wind stops blowing and killing my allergies(hopefully), I will be enjoying the summer air.
