Pineapples and QAL

"Sew" crazy me decided to join another QAL.  My life is a tornado of activity, so once again I prove that I am a little lot crazy.  I just loved the Quilt-A-Long that Sew Happy Geek and Sew Bitter Sweet Designs was holding that I could not resist.  It had all the elements that I loved.  A little bit of classic and modern, all rolled into one.  The next step is paper piecing which I have yet to try out.  It is a little intimidating to try, but you have to start somewhere right?

I picked a few different lines of Moda to put into this quilt top.  I am excited to see how it looks together.  I have yet to finish these blocks.  It seems that the first week of school and getting back into to the swing of things, is an adjustment for all of us.

I did get the afghan for my mother-in-law all finished up.  Mark one more name off of the Christmas gift list! (YEAH!)  The pattern is from the Leisure Arts book:  So Pretty Pineapple Afghans.  I loved how it turned out.  I might have to give one of the other patterns a try next or try this one in a different color.

(On a none crafting note) While outside the last couple days, we have had little visitors to the garden. There has been hummingbirds flitting from one butterfly bush to another.  I caught this one setting on a cane of my rose bush.  There was another one setting not far in the leaves next to this one.  They have got to be my most favorite feathered visitor to our garden and I look forward to their visit every summer.
