A Craftsy Tote

Craftsy asked if  I would like to try out one of their kits,
and I jumped at the offer.
I have bought fabric from Craftsy several times.
I just picked up this adorable set of Riley Blake Fat quarter bundle
for the block for the In Our Garden Block of the Month

But, I have never used a sewing or a quilting kit,
last weekend I tried a little
something different.

The kit that I was sent was this beautiful Rowan tote.

I received the pattern via email within just a few minutes,
and the fabric came before the week was through.

Everything was in the kit except for the thread,
button and the fusible fleece.

I have used the fusible fleece on several
other projects and I absolutely love working
with it.

The fleece has just the right loft to make your
quilting just pop.  I choose to quilt 1/4" from the seams
to show off the quilting rather than the recommended
stitching in the ditch.
I figure if I am going to spend all the time
quilting the tote, I might as well be able to see the quilting.

After a few hours of cutting, sewing, and quilting,
I was left with this super
fun tote bag.

This cutie was a given to my sister.
She uses it all the time.
Makes me want to make myself one.
Which, I might just have to do.

Would I make another kit?
Yes, I found the kit easy to use
and quite enjoyable to stitch up.
I actually purchased a quilt kit from Craftsy.

It is the Rowan Kaffe Fassett Collective Lovely Lattice Quilt.
I am really looking forward to starting on this
beauty.
It is a little different than any other
quilts that I have made before.

Have you tried a Craftsy kit before?

  6. What a fun bag. It's so bright and colorful. That quilt kit is cool lookin. I've never used a kit. I have been tempted but always seem to go out on my own. I'm gonna have to buy one it would probably be cheaper because I always over buy when I'm making a quilt.
