My sister is always claiming that she has not an ounce of talent. I have heard this for years. Well, I no longer believe the untalented claim at all. Look at this giant cookie she made for her kiddo's birthday.
Isn't it adorable?
She also made this cute owl cake for her other kiddos birthday.
My sis makes a mean chocolate chip cookie. Here is the recipe she uses:
1/2 cup Cricso shortening
1/2 cup softened butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 teas. baking soda
1 teas. vanilla
Now before you add anymore ingredients you need to beat these for a while. It makes the cookie, nice and fluffy and moist. (It is her secret. Shhhh, don't tell her I told you) After mixing it for at least 2 minutes, add:
2 1/2 cups flour
Mix the flour until it is all incorporated in the mixture.
and a 12 oz. bag of chocolate chip (or whichever flavor chip you prefer)
optional: 1 to 1 1/2 cups of walnuts
Finish mixing the ingredients together, until well blended.
She cooks the cookie on a pizza pan. Due to all the holes in the bottom of the pan, she covers it with aluminum foil. To ease the spreading of the cookie onto the pan, she lightly dampens her hands with water. It helps to smooth the cookie out on the pan. Bake at 350 degrees until the cookie is a nice blonde color.
After the cookie was nice and cool. She decorated it using a star tip for the lion's face and also for the mane. She just tinted the frosting a darker color for the mane. If you find that the frosting is not brown enough using icing colors, you can use a little Hershey unsweetened cocoa powder. Just add a teaspoon at a time, to get the desired color. She used a buttercream frosting recipe which you can find here.
You too can make this super cute cookie for your kiddos!

That cake is awesome, she has done a great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing ... so talented! xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is the cutest and thanks for the receipe. My grandkids (ages 7,7 and 3) love to bake and this would be fun to bake with them. I don't imagine the decorating will be quite as nice but it will be more fun than plain old chocolate chip cookies. This weekend will be for Halloween sugar cookies to frost and decorate.
