It is been awhile since I
was able to join a fun blog,
and the Show Your Wings hop
seemed like the
perfect time to do so.
I have a few blocks lying
around that needed to make themselves
into a quilt.
My Uncle Sam nutcracker
has been wanting a home
since the last blog hop
I was able to participate in.
But he doesn't have wings.
I did decide a few months after him
to make an eagle applique.
He definitely fit the bill
of having wings
and this hop was about showing
off your wings.
So, I added them together.
Well, that was at 4 pm on February 20th.
I knew I want to do a bit more to it.
After deciding, I went ahead
and added a friend to
keep Mr. Uncle Sam company.
Lady Liberty!!
Let's just say I stayed up
WAYYY past my bedtime
to add a few more blocks and
a border.
I don't think the light of a
candle does much
for a quilt picture, so in
the next few hours I
will take another photo of it.
For now I am
blowing out the candle and headed
for bed.
I hope you enjoyed stopping in.

ReplyDeleteAmy. I adore American and this is perfect. I love the eagle with the wings that fits the bill for the theme. Uncle Same and Lady Liberty are great "friends" for the eagle. I have a 41 year old son who is an eagle scout. I decided that I want to make an eagle for him for some reason. However, I have decided that I'm going to cross stitch one for him. I have looked and looked for a pattern and just can't find one to suit me. I was looking through some "antique" patterns of me. When I say antique I mean antique to me. They are just some of my old patterns that I have had for years. It's an old pattern book. It's the head of an eagle and just was closer than anything else I could find. The design in the book is on black cloth and it's look great. Well, I don't know if you cross stitch or not. Black cloth is not an easy thing to locate the locate in. I have done one piece before and learned to put either a piece of white fabric or a white bath towel under it to help have a light background under it. I have the fabric and still have to locate all the thread for it. There's no hurry to get it done as he has no idea that I'm doing it. It'll be a surprise when it's done. Maybe I should just applique something and make it easier on myself. Actually, I enjoy cross stitching and will get it done eventually. Your wonderful project brought it back to mind. Thanks for participating in the hop and having a wonderful "winged" project. I love it.
ReplyDeleteOH Amy, that is just awesome. It's so good to see you again. I know life has been crazy, but I hope to see a pattern for this soon. What a great 4th of July quilt that would make!
