My Blue Jeans Rag Quilt

Well, I can't actually call
this one,

"My Blue Jeans" because
there is not one pair of my jeans
in this quilt.
They do, however, have my dads,
husbands, and my sons jeans
all in there.

There are
195 denim circles in the quilt I created.
Cut using my
(Yes, 195!!)
15 x 13
I honestly would not have even attempted to
complete it without that handy little tool.
It cuts the circle shape and edges of the circle have tiny cuts
that will fray after you rough it up or wash the quilt.
No more using scissors that end up killing you.
It made such a stunning and fun quilt, EASY!!

This is just most of it while I was working on it.
It took me 4 days to complete it from start to finish.
I did have all of the circles cut out before I began,
but not the batting or the fabric squares.

I used an older line from
Sweetwater for Moda called
Boat House.  It was sitting in
my sewing room begging to be used.
Plus, all my honeys who the jeans came from
love to wear Red, White and Blue,
so this was an appropriate fabric line
to use with their jeans.

I used a soft green Aurifil #2835
to topstitch on the jeans
and a darker blue in the bobbin, Aurifil #2745

And it matches the pillow that I created a couple months back.
If you are interested in the pattern
you can find it, here.

After removing the piles of "Denim Glitter"
that appeared during the construction of this quilt,
(Let's just say be prepared to be covered in it)
it is now going to find it's way to the back of the couch
to cover up cold toes during the cold months
that are soon approaching.

As heavy as it is, it should keep them nice
and toasty warm.

Christmas in July with Blend Fabrics and Thermoweb

What better way to start to get the jump
on Christmas than to start in July.
Well, at least that is what my
plans were for this year.

I received so Merry Christmas mail
with this beautiful bunch of
fabrics, Snowflake Waltz by Blend.

They were full of all these cute little characters.
That were just waiting to find there way to
my dining room table in the form of
placemats for Christmas.

I spent a little extra time fussy cutting
each of the character, but it was so worth it.

If you would like the complete instructions,
please visit Thermoweb for the free pattern.
