In Our Garden Block of the Month Blocks #1 and #2

The anticipation has been mounting....
What do the first two blocks look like,
Well your wait is over.

First, I want to thank all the great sponsors that were gracious
to sponsor a month during our hop.
This month hop is sponsored by Riley Blake.

They provided this gorgeous fabric I created my blocks in and
a giveaway for those who are going to sew-a-long with us.

If you have been experiencing winter like our area has,
I am so looking forward to be able to walk in my garden
without snow boots on or mud galoshes when it melts.

So here is the first little breathe of spring,
Block #1 - Flip Flop

It is an easy block that you can piece relatively quickly.
The fabrics that I used were Riley Blake Calico Days by Lori Holt.

Doesn't look like much in the form of garden time here, even the bird's have
there home for rent over the winter.
You can find this block for a free during the month of February, HERE.

Now here comes Block #2,
an applique block.
What inspired this block well...
In my garden, I have toads that hop
all over my yard during the summer months.
Sometimes, they jump and scare the daylights
out of me, but I am totally appreciative of all
the nasty little mosquitos or in this case flies that the little guys pick up.

He is my hoppin handsome fellow.
You can find the pattern free for the month of February.
You can find it HERE

Here are both of the blocks together:

Here is another color variation of the blocks,
with a little added embroidery for the buzzing bug.

February 10th, I will be opening a link party
where you can show off your finished blocks.
This link will be open until February 29th at midnight EST.
Not only will you be able to show them off,
but as an added bonus
you will be in the drawing for a beautiful fat quarter bundle of
fabrics provided by Riley Blake.

Now for a giveaway for all of you,
who stopped by for our hop.
This giveaway is open to everyone!!

In Our Garden BOM Fabric and Sponsors Announcement

The Block of the Month is
drawing nearer.

and there has been a few question about how much
fabric will be needed.
Pat from Life in the Scrapatch,
one of the Block of the Month designers,
has made a display of some
fabric requirement for the
blocks that we will be creating.
If you choose to make all 24.
This way you can get a good feel for how much fabric
you will need for the background.

I have been busy working away on my block for you
and here is an  idea for what colors you might
choose for your applique block.

A background fabric of your choice,
several green fabrics, black,
and the yellow and blue can be
changed to colors of you choice.
So you will need either Aurifil 12 wt. in black
or some DMC black embroidery floss
There is just a touch of hand-stitching,
don't worry it is nothing that is too technical.
You will see when the block is released.

Here are just a few of the companies that
were generous enough to sponsor giveaways!
There will be more to come....

Foiled Reindeer Pillow and Tips for Using DecoFoil

I never had a chance to show off the DecoFoiled reindeer pillow that
I had enough time to finish
just before Christmas.
It turned out to be a joint project with my daughter and I.

The new addition fits in perfectly with my
Christmas décor.
I love it so that it might
be in use for the whole year.
I just love houndstooth fabric and the gold foil.
Such classics!!

If you haven't had a chance to play with DecoFoil,
my daughter had a school project that she
had to do a How-to-Video for.

On the video, she will show you how to apply it.
It is quite addictive.

Please ignore our puppy barking in the
background.
He has yet to learn his manners.

It is always nice to have someone who
shares in your creativity.
If you are interested in the reindeer pattern
you can find it in my Craftsy Shop
