Christmas Ornaments

This last week has been nice,
quiet and super productive.
We had a wonderful Christmas
with our family.
I think my brain was in serious
need of a vacation with no major commitments.

Here is a little taste of what
has been going on.

I have been working on cross-stitching
the last month.
Working on my Tammy Bag and
these little
Cuties.

Brooke Nolan has these
cross-stitch patterns that
are free of charge.  I omitted
the number on the patterns.

I worked on these and
decided they would make
adorable little ornaments
for our tree.

I used 25th and Pine Precut Hexies
made a little Hexie sandwich with
some batting in the center.
Then I sewed my  cross-stitch
down with 12 wt. Aurifil on
my sewing machine.
Ohh, and don't forget
the ribbon on top

I am "sew" looking forward
to the rest of the
patterns.

For now I am working on
the Spring Vintage pattern
which you can find here.

Here is the full Schedule.
I hope you hop along with us.

Black Cat Crossing Hop

Wicked Wendy has the Schedule HERE
Hello and welcome to My Stop
of the Wicked
Black Cat Crossing Hop

I choose to pick out three different patterned
fabrics from the adorable Maywood Studio's
Black Cat Crossing.
I worked up a table runner
with them.
I also added a little
chalkboard fabric in the center.
The kids enjoy writing fun notes.
I am not really the scary
Halloween type, so
this is the cutest tombstone
that I could come up with.
Can you tell that I am enjoying the
chalkboard fabric.

Go check out what the
other Ghouls and Goblins
created for the hop.

A Little Bit of Everything

I have been busily putting my
sewing space all together.
It is going to be a work in
progress to find all
the little things that speak to me.
(It will probably take years)
I have always wanted a space that
Says "Me".
Here is a little chunk
of what I have so far.

I have loved seeing the cute antique ladders
that everyone has sporting their quilts.
Well, this ladder has a lot of
meaning. It is the kids bunk-bed ladder.
It was just sitting around,
collecting dust in the shed,
when I had the idea to use it.
We drilled holes in the front of the ladder
at the top to attach it into a stud.
They are counter sunk holes.

After screwing it to the wall,
I used wooden button to cover
the screw heads.
I was lucky enough to hit
a stud with both sides.
It is probably a good thing,
since a certain someone
thinks it is a great ladder up the wall to
Nowhere.

My husband refinished this
cute little nightstand
for me.
I like to store my cross-stitch supplies
in there and it
keeps me from tripping on
the ladder.
(Can you tell, I probably did it more than once)

I love the black hardware against the
willow stain.
Here is the picture of part of the
set before he refinished it.

I actually picked it up for nothing.
(Got to love that)
We spent next to
nothing refinishing it.
Just the sandpaper, stain,
poly, and paint for the pulls.
He has two of the three pieces
redone, but I'll
show you the other a bit later.

And all those lovely tomatoes,
I again was working on.
This time with a little
 Basil-Garlic Tomato Sauce.

You can find the recipe Here.
It smelled absolutely yummy.
I am hoping it tastes just as
good.

I have also been doing a bit
of sewing for the Black Cat Crossing Hop
over at Sew We Quilt
coming up reallllly soon.

Salsa....and No Not Dancing

Between my dad's and our garden
we have had a bumper crop of
tomatoes and chilies,.

Aren't they pretty?

There is nothing like a homegrown tomato.
The last two weekends
I have been canning like a
"Crazy" woman.
I even have a blister
to show for all my great dicing skills.

And what do I have to show for it?

Between both weekends,
Around 45 pints of homemade salsa.

We like our salsa a little
warm, so I just leave the seeds in
the chilies.  We might have enough
to make a few more.
My hubby can eat a jar of
homemade salsa a week.

Have you been taking advantage of
the end of summer/fall harvests?

Rush Hour.....

Rush HOUR Schedule
I have decided that the woman
on the button is well....
a lot like me, only a red head.
Since school started,
we have been in a super
huge RUSH
Running here and there,
reports, essays, UGH!!
Well, the best part of my days
is before the
RUSH begins,
Where I wake the Kiddos,
and sometimes you might here a little
WAKEY!! WAKEY!!
from my lips.
I absolutely adored the fabrics from Studio E
that so perfectly and  had
Wakey! Wakey!
on them.
And I really enjoy a good sup of coffee
in the morning.
Sew what perfect fabrics!!

So what did I whip up?
Well First ..
A few placemats to Wake you!!

And a little coffee can help as well!

And for some of those
days when you just would like
to sleep a little longer but can't
you might just need
an extra large dose.
Which I  have been
needing the last couple weeks.

I hope you enjoyed
my stop on the
Rush Hour hop.
Be sure and visit all these
Gals who are
RUSHING AROUND!!
