Accuquilt Block Party - Flowering Snowball

Welcome to my day on the

AccuQuilt Blog Hop Party
AccuQuilt has came out with 11 new dies
and I was excited when I got a chance
to try out the
New Flowering Snowball Die.

http://www.accuquilt.com/go-flowering-snowball-12-finished.html
I have never sewn a curve for a quilt,
maybe sewn a sleeve or two on
a kiddos dress, but
never on a quilt.
Just a little intimidating.

I decided to use all solids.
I love the simplicity
of solids.  I pulled out my
Kona Fat Quarters Fields of Irises.

Plus, the die works great using fat quarters.

I timed how quick it was
to cut out 10 blocks.
You can find the results here.
Sew, what exactly did I come up with?

It measures at 60" square.
 I haven't yet decided how
I would like to quilt it
so, if you have any grand suggestions.......

I would love them.

I have several more ideas
for this great die.

Thanks to Accuquilt
for letting me give it a whirl.

Have you ever wondered?

I have always wondered just how fast it would be
to cut fabric with a Accuquilt Go!
I am always up for saving a bit of time.

Sew, I grabbed my phone with the stopwatch,
my fabrics, and cutters.

I premeasured the die, so I knew exactly
the dimensions of the fabric I needed before
I started timing.

I was lucky enough to test out one of their new dies,
A great opportunity to see how long it
would take to cut out 10 blocks.

http://www.accuquilt.com/go-flowering-snowball-12-finished.html

It is all curves except for the square in the center.
I have hand sewn a Hexi quilt before, cut all the fabric for it
and it was super time consuming.
I doubt that I would ever
have the time to hand cut each of
curves for the Flowering Snowball.
Plus it would be too Wonky.
And there are
Too many quilts to make
and not enough time.

So, just how long did it
take to prepare the fabrics to
be cut by my Accuquilt Go!
and then cut them.

Almost 27 minutes!!
I couldn't believe that
something that would have taken me
days and not been that accurate
took me less than a half an hour.

Here is a bit more of a teaser,
of what is to come

I can't wait to show you the rest on Friday.
You can check out the
what the rest of
hoppers did with their
New Dies.

AMB Blog Tour

web_photo_for-zoey (1)

Get your motor running
and let's hit the road.

It is the AMB Blog Tour.
Do you know what AMB stands for?
Fabric that is completely made in the USA,
from the cotton grown in the fields to the manufacturing.

Well, how would you like to
take a little trip and visit all 50 states in just
25 days?

Starting May 19th, Clothwork's AMB Blog Tour will hit the road.

I have already seen some beautifully designed plates,
and I know that there will definitely be
a giveaway.  My pit stop will be on June 12th.

So what are we all sharing with you.........

From the Clothworks' website:
Every Blogger has been specially selected as a representative of the state they call home. At each stop on the tour, explore how each designer re-interprets their 12″ x 6″ state license plate in a finished quilt block of the same size and sign-up for giveaways of American Made Brand fabric.  You’ll find all types of blocks – truly something for everyone! You are going to want to collect them all.

I hope that you will join me for a nation-wide tour
The full schedule can be found right HERE.
 So, spread the word,
It is always more fun when you travel in a group!
